ADOLFO BARANDIARAN is a Peruvian-American fine arts photographer born in Lima, Peru and raised in Miami, Florida. In May 1983, at the age nine, he saw Christo’s Surrounded Islands, which amazed him. "Both my father and I couldn’t believe that islands on Biscayne Bay could become surrounded by pink fabric; it was magical to see", he recounts. Adolfo has worked with various film formats: from 35mm to medium and large format photography to digital photography. He earned both a BFA in Visual Arts, with a minor in Art History from Florida International University and a MFA in Photography from Massachusetts College of Art and Design. Adolfo has taught photography from the middle school to the college and university level. The sunlight that bathes Miami draws him out to photograph. To Adolfo, Miami is a city in constant change, open all-night, accommodating more and more new residents daily, and constantly evolving. All these forces affect the landscapes, things, and people that he photographs. |
