¿Qué es un Hincha?

5.25.12

Hinchas are Spanglish speakers who grew up in Latino exurbs (Miami, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, D.C.) and may or may not watch soccer, but know to call it fútbol.

Hinchas are the homicidal fútbol fanatics of Latin America. But, they are also denizens of the Americas that don't distinguish between North and South America.

When we say "América," we mean it the way José Martí did--namely, that the word encapsulates the whole of the Americas, not just the north. Hinchas know to call it simpy, América.

As such, Hinchas de Poesía is a digital codex of modern Américan writing. It publishes the fiction, poetry, and prose of authors from América.

In terms of taste and content, Hinchas de Poesia believes the content to be the medium. To that end, we publish innovative, experimental work of a devastating caliber, regardless of format or dialect. Please send us work you are unsure about, using language that belies the contours of a nameless gloss.
