The following photographs were taken by Eric Pearse-Chavez in Cuba on a trip that transpired from June to August in 2009. The photographs that comprise this series were taken all over the island, but predominantly in La Habana. These photographs not only document quotidian life in Cuba, they document the constant decay and devolution of that life. Over the next ten years, it is assumed that the control of the island will switch hands, and much anxiety in the exile community of Miami is directed toward who shall next hold the reigns. These photographs, however, contain no political message. They are simply the work of an amateur photographer, journalist, and writer making sense of the decadent entropy and scarce splendor that he found there as a tourist and a patriot.
